DIO Piston Install TIPS
i have a 1999 yamaha 9.9 4 stroke outboard i want to change crank case oil where is drain plug?
on that same outboard there is oil dripping out of the lower unit but it doesnt smell like gear lube anybody know where it is coming from?
if im not mistaken, it should have a fill plug and a drain plug. should be located at the bottom of the leg. the fill plug should be located a lil higher then the drain plug. if ur planning on doing most the maintanace/repairs by yourself, u should invest in the repair/service manual. though when u bought the motor didnt it come with the motor manual? i have the same problem with the oil comming out, its probably motor oil. maybe one of the seals is broken or worn. u cant mistake gear oil with motor oil, just becuase of how bad gear oil smells. im thinking a worn seal in the lower unit. good luck with it.
