I am designing an LED lamp and the need to convert 120v to 12v for my circuit. What is the simplest / safest way?
Be you can use an AC adapter, but I want to create the processor myself. Most LED designs seem to work with batteries, but I want my lamp to the wall socket / network. I am new wiring, but have done basic welding and can handle a basic layout using resistors / capacitors / anything else you might need.
The adapter uses a simple linear regulator. Conversion adapters are much more complex. The reference below shows the steps involved in the construction of a typical linear power supply. It is a good place to start.
