How to change the oil on the Briggs & Stratton lawn mower?
I have a Briggs & Stratton 5.25hp/21 inch self-propelled mower grass. I need to know how to change oil. It has a straight tube that goes directly to the lawnmower
That's the gauge, it You can empty the oil out there, get a drain pan, take the dipstick out, tip the mower with care, and drain it. This does not get all the oil out however, there is a plug at the bottom of the engine (below deck) that is a ratchet (not taken) in, to raise them in blocks works for me, put a container under take the drain plug and let the oil drain until it stops, put the plug back in tight. Now, the engine takes 20 ounces of peak oil …. not an entire room … If you still have the original 18 oz bottle of oil that comes with it, fill it up with any brand of HD-30 weight. That is a high detergent directly 30 on 40 degrees F. Use 5W-30 or 10W-30 conventional below 40. Or use 5W-30 or 10W-30 synthetic oil at any time. Be sure to use that strip, clean with a towel on a flat surface, insert it again, bring it back, make sure that all or atleast half way on that cross hatch. Keep the mark full, this is not like a car engine, it is necessary that oil! Be sure to properly dispose of oil … auto parts stores like AutoZone or advance take used oil. Be sure to check with them first. To add, change oil every 25 hours …. easily continue with this, sell hours of yards away. Change air filter paper every year, you can clean the foam filter if you have one, but not oil. Change the spark plug when it gets hard to start, clean and vacuum once a year (.30) Check out the leaves once a year, get them replaced or sharpened … sure they are balanced (nail on a pole, hanging through the hole and hone in on the side that is going to up your level) or make sure to remove things in your garden you can be beaten … And use a stabilizer Fuel!
