1st time boat buyer – boat new or "gently used" boat w / warranty? "?
I've heard two schools of thought in relation to 1st time buyers boat – whether to buy a new boat (a dealer) or whether to buy a late model used boat w / a guarantee transferable (from a private party). The reasoning behind a new boat is, of course, peace of mind. I'm going into this hobby at 38 years old and not I have misconceptions that this can be a very expensive hobby. My budget is around $ 18,000 (for the lic., Ins., Merchant fees [if applicable], and misc. Other expenses). I am also familiar with Bayliner and Searay, and more recently, Four Winns (these are the ships well!). We are a familiy of 5, with my sister and her children (each has 3 – all are now at the age of water sports) a mile away.
