I have a ship of 9.9 game fisher motor idles fine but when it starts up dies why?

I'd like to meet some possible explanations before taking to the mechanics. Hopefully that is something I can fix myself. Accelerates in neutral, but as soon as I put it in FWD, extinguished. Perhaps something with the fuel line?

Read the other answers and they are things I looked, but there is another possibility, the spark advance. It is usually mechanically adjusted for the shift lever and the accelerator when it starts. The next time you try to set up, use your finger to adjust the spark advance and see if that helps. Must be a mechanical linkage to raise the wheel and move a coil under the flywheel. This is what generates the spark for the engine and the spark advance is also helping to generate more energy when the first turn. If you move without changing speed, you should hear the speed of the motor increase. Hope this helps.
